It is interesting that now, a guy is responding to an article that is several months old during the good times but he could not tell me why taking your equity and investing it to grow more wealth is a bad idea. Yes, today’s economy and all its crises and palaver touch on nearly everyone but commonsense is always better even during this period of uncertainty. For most people their homes would be the largest investment and in good times, they are expected to appreciate, so what is wrong in taking some of the equities out to reinvest when the conditions permit? Annuities may yet still be a good investment for some people who are less alacritous and adventurous but are interested in longer investment as well as steady income in later years. This is a commonsense advice and the author was never suggesting that anyone should not seek professional help. Asking people to be adults may be a great cliche, it is still not going to help one grow wealth, in fact most of the people who somehow lost trillions of dollars are very grown up people on Wall Street. Seek professional help but be an informed seeker. That is all that the author was reaching for. Be proactive in your own wealth-building, I bet he cannot tell me anything is wrong with that.
